6 Apple devices expected to be upgraded this year

iphone SE 4 (tentatively called)

The latest generation of the iphone SE was released in 2022 and recent rumors have confirmed that this device will receive a major upgrade, potentially becoming one of the most worth-buying iPhone models. Some changes that insiders have confirmed will appear in this model include the A18 chip (the type currently used in the iphone 16), 8 GB of RAM, which means it will support Apple Intelligence artificial intelligence – something the iPhone 15 cannot do.

The screen may also use an OLED panel, with support for a notch (rabbit ears) containing the Face ID cluster. The main camera is 48 MP and uses a USB-C port instead of Lightning like recent iPhone generations. A notable point is that this phone model may be the first model equipped with a 5G chip manufactured by Apple.

The iPhone SE 4 is expected to kick off Apple’s device lineup this year when it launches in March.

AirPods Pro 3

In September 9.2022, Apple launched AirPods Pro 2 and has continued to update the software and features for this device. However, in terms of design, the product has been on the market for 3 years – exactly the gap between the Pro and Pro 2 generations, and it is time for a new version to follow, expected to appear in the fall of 2.

Along with the expected design changes, the product may feature a new H3 chip, increased environmental noise cancellation, improved sound quality, and possibly an additional heart rate sensor.

Watch SE 3

Also in September 9.2022, Apple introduced the Watch SE low-cost smartwatch line, similar to the iPhone SE and may also launch a new version in 2025. There is currently very little leaked information related to the Watch SE 3, but it is indispensable to “copy” some features available on recent Watch series versions such as using a new chip, adding sensors related to health measurement.

In the past, Apple usually released the Watch SE in September, at the same time as the Watch series, so it may continue this tradition this year. However, it is not impossible that this Apple device will appear at the same event as the iPhone SE 9.

Apple TV 4K

Apple TV, unlike any other Apple device, has an unusual and unpredictable update schedule. Looking back at previous versions, the time between each update has been uneven: 3,5 years, 1,5 years, 1 year, 2,4 years, 2 years, 4 years, 1 year. It has been almost 9.2022 years since the most recent version (September 2,5), and it will be 9 years this September.

According to journalist Mark Gurman, the Apple TV 4K will be released in 2025, but the exact date is not known. All that is known about the upgrade at this point is that Apple will integrate new Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chips.

Air Tag 2

AirTag was released in April 4.2021 and has not changed much since. After a four-year hiatus, Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman revealed that the second generation will be released around mid-4. Along with that, there will be some changes such as wider connectivity range, improvements in wireless chips, and enhanced security features.

HomePod mini 2

The furthest along on this list is the HomePod mini – a low-cost smart speaker that debuted in 2020. Apple’s standard HomePod model has always been criticized for its “fake price” so the company decided to launch a mini version, but that was more than 4 years ago. In recent times, the company has only added new colors to this collection, but the design and features remain the same.

By 2025, the product is expected to have an upgrade, but the most expected is still support for Apple Intelligence and strong integration with “HomePad”, the recently rumored smart home display model.
