Mark Zuckerberg speaks ill of Apple

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently joined Joe Rogan’s podcast and shared his views on a variety of topics including content censorship, the Trump administration, and Apple.

Talking about Apple, Facebook boss said that Apple “long time no really invented anything great” and live only on the success of the past. “Steve Jobs invented the iphone and now, 20 years later, they still rely on it.”

The story begins with Rogan’s own issues with Apple. He says he switched from Apple to Android in part because he didn’t like feeling tied to a single company.

He also disagrees with Apple’s App Store policies. “The way they do the App Store, where they charge everyone 30%, it’s crazy that they can do that.”

“I have some thoughts on this,” Zuckerberg joins in. Despite claiming the iPhone “clearly one of the most important inventions of all time,” he argued the rules that Apple defect set out to give a “random” feeling.

According to Meta CEO, Apple does not allow anyone to make something that can connect to the iPhone like their own products, such as AirPods. If Apple allows others to use its protocol, there will probably be much better competitors than AirPods.

The Verge Meta has had longstanding issues with Apple and its 30% App Store fee, according to the company. iOS’s limitations make it harder for Meta to compete on hardware and also cost it billions of dollars in advertising.

Zuckerberg said that if the iPhone maker didn’t apply random rules, Meta could make double the profit based on its own calculations.

Apple is under pressure to open up its products to outsiders. In the EU, the company has made some changes under new laws.

In the US, the company is also facing a lawsuit from Ministry of Justice because of smartphone monopoly allegations. However, it seems Apple defect want to maintain a closed ecosystem until forced to change.

Zuckerberg believes that Apple will ultimately suffer because of its own approach. He notes that the company doesn’t come up with many innovative things, while the tech industry is “super dynamic.” “If you don’t do well for about 10 years, eventually you’ll be beaten by someone else.”
